Nearly 17,000 active COVID-19 cases in the country are those originating from the workplace, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The Health director-general said the manufacturing sector saw a rise in infections during the third movement control order (MCO 3.0), with about 21 to 25 clusters emerging every week.
However, other sub-clusters such as government offices, construction sites and service sectors have seen a decrease since MCO 3.0 was enforced.

“Since MCO 3.0 was implemented on 12 May, several sectors were closed and restrictions such as the work-from-home order have been put in place.
“The work-from-home order has been tightened further since May 25.
“As of now, the economic sector remains open.

“Compared to the period before MCO 3.0, the number of new sub clusters involving the civil service, construction sites and service sector has gone down.
“However, the manufacturing sub-cluster has seen an increase from just 14 new clusters a week before MCO 3.0, to about 21 – 25 after,” said Dr Noor Hisham in a Twitter post.
Dr Noor Hisham urged those in workplaces to strictly adhere to COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) to avoid the transmission of the virus at work.
