DOC2US & Alpro Pharmacy Ties Up With GDEX to Ease Medication Delivery
DOC2US, the first and only telemedicine provider in Malaysia approved by the Ministry of Health to provide digitally signed e-prescription services; together with Alpro Pharmacy, Malaysia’s largest prescription pharmacy chain; today announced a collaboration with GDEX Bhd for the secure and real-time tracking of medication delivery.
Online consultation has become remarkably important during Covid-19 pandemic when lockdown measures were implemented. Once patients receive the e-prescription from doctors at DOC2US after consultation, well-trained pharmacists at Alpro Pharmacy will then fill the prescription. For patients who opt for doorstep delivery of their medication, they can track their barcoded medication shipments from GDEX in real time, to better time their availability in receiving their medication.
Dr Raymond Choy, Chief Executive Officer of DOC2US said, “This strategic collaboration among DOC2US, Alpro Pharmacy, and GDEX will not only enhance our back-end processes and productivity, but most importantly, provides a better patient experience when it comes to medication delivery services. This collaboration also enables us to provide a one-stop solution for patients; from digital healthcare, pharmaceutical supplies, to logistics. We are confident of a safer provision of healthcare service, which is now more personal yet professional. In turn, we are able to set a higher standard in medication delivery in Malaysia.”

As the demand of medication delivery grows during the pandemic, safe delivery of medication has become a concern for many. Some of these concerns include the possibility of inaccurate storage temperature during delivery that can result in harmful effects to patients.
GDEX Bhd Chief Operating Officer Caren Chong said, “We are honoured that we have been entrusted to provide the nationwide logistics for medication delivery. Our courier staff have been internally trained to handle the delivery and manage the storage of medication. Coupled with our barcoded tracking system, we are able to ensure that the right medication is delivered to the right patient, and most importantly, in the right condition.”
Since its inception, DOC2US has processed more than 320,000 e-prescriptions. During the trial run from September 2020 to February 2021, the tripartite collaboration managed to achieve an average turnaround time for Long Term Medication (LTM) in less than two days for delivery in Peninsular Malaysia while around six days in Sabah and Sarawak.

Alpro Pharmacy Group Marketing Director, Pharmacist Lee Yin Chen said, “We place medication safety as the utmost priority when dealing with patients and medications. All medications are properly handled by our pharmacists before sending out to our patients. Unlike other goods, medication needs to be handled with proper care and under strict guidelines. Dispensing medication through delivery while maintaining Alpro Pharmacy’s high commitment on medication safety can be a challenge. Therefore, we work together with DOC2US for tele-consultation of the patients and GDEX Berhad for the last mile delivery of the medication in order to ensure the safety and proper handling of medication throughout the entire process.”
“There are currently more than 300 authorised pharmacies adopting our electronic prescribing/dispensing solutions and we target to onboard 1,000 pharmacy outlets this year so that we can further shorten the delivery time nationwide. Gradually, we will also offer this seamless medication delivery service to all of our authorised pharmacies this year. At present, we offer same day delivery for minor ailments in seven (7) major cities – Klang Valley, Penang, Seremban, Melaka, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, and Kuching,” Choy added.
