As Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) celebrates its 30th anniversary this September, the centre has swept up six prestigious awards for its high-quality healthcare this month alone.

IJN’s most recent win was at The BrandLaureate BestBrands Awards 2022, where it received the Nation’s Pride Brand of the Year Award for Healthcare and Community Engagement. The award was announced last Thursday (Aug 25) night during an awards ceremony held at the Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Hosted by the The World Brands Foundation (TWBF), The BrandLaureate BestBrand Awards celebrates brands that are market leaders in their respective industries. In conjunction with Malaysia’s 65th year of independence this year, TWBF introduced the “Nation’s Pride” category to honour exemplary brands who have contributed to nation building.

Meanwhile on Aug 6, IJN swept up a whopping five awards at the Global Health Asia-Pacific Healthcare and Hospital Awards 2022 held in Bangkok, Thailand. These awards comprise Cardiology Service Provider of the Year; Paediatric Cardiology Service Provider of the Year; Heart Transplant Service Provider of the Year; Emergency Care Service Provider of the Year; and Most Innovative Hospital of the Year.

In its seventh year, the GlobalHealth Asia-Pacific Healthcare and Hospital Awards recognises hospitals and medical companies in the Asia-Pacific region for healthcare excellence, as well as continuous improvements made to care delivery.

IJN chief executive officer Datuk Dr Aizai Azan Abdul Rahim said the centre was honoured to be recognised for its efforts at raising community health and well-being.

“It’s especially fitting to receive these awards during our 30th year of existence — this proves that we have successfully maintained our high standards of cardiovascular and thoracic care, while pushing the envelope even further. Thus far, we have treated and cared for over five million patients, and we look forward to expanding our reach to touch even more lives,” he said.

IJN was formally established on September 2, 1992 as Malaysia’s premier heart specialist, with a mandate to provide advanced cardiovascular and thoracic medicine for adult and paediatric heart patients. Since then, the centre has earned a reputation for being a regional leader in heart health.

Dr Aizai Azan added that the awards received served both as a benchmark for the centre’s approach to healthcare, as well as a reflection of its staff’s dedication.

Set to be held in Bangkok this September, the HMA Awards recognises best practices among hospitals in Asia and is one of the most prominent hospital management awards in the region.
