Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) is proud to announce the opening of their inaugural RED Gallery “The Untold Stories” photo exhibition. The RED Gallery is an initiative that showcases the vaccination efforts for the underserved community during the COVID-19 pandemic. The 3-day exhibition will run from 25th – 27th March, 10am – 8pm, at Rumah Tangsi, Kuala Lumpur.

The RED Gallery exhibition features the untold stories of MRCS’ vaccination drives held across the country for the underserved communities in collaboration with 40 other humanitarian organizations. These are mobile vaccination efforts outside the main Vaccination Centres (PPVs), focused on the bedridden and OKU community. It then expanded to the Orang Asli, migrants, asylum seekers, homeless communities, and adolescents across the nation.

MRCS and its team of volunteers travelled across 15 states, trekking offroad and climbing hilly terrains to set up vaccination centres whilst increasing vaccine education and acceptance. As part of their most recent initiative, the team set up mobile centres for vaccination booster shots for hard-to-reach communities. Over the period of eight months, MRCS has administered a total of over 50,000 vaccinations.

“We’ve always operated with the mentality that no one is safe until everyone is safe – it’s important for us to ensure that no one gets left behind in our battle against Covid-19. Through the RED Gallery initiative, we wish to document Malaysia’s journey throughout the pandemic; to share the hardships and to show the underserved communities that we care” said Her Highness Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Binti Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, MRCS National Chairperson.

The RED Gallery gives an intimate look at MRCS’ journey to provide essential care to the underserved communities through the lens of photographers Nazir Sufari, Ahmad Yusni, Azneal Ishak, Ahmad Zamzahuri, Miera Zulyana, Puah Sze Ning, Amy Ng, and Maryam Nasir. The team of photographers were more than just photographers, they were also volunteers that dedicated their time to our country’s vaccination drive. In addition to photos from the vaccination drive, the RED Gallery also features a web documentary, ‘Gotong Royong Cucuk Vaksin’, that shares the stories of the many volunteers throughout the vaccination process.

In support of the vulnerable communities, the RED Gallery also collaborated with Buy for Impact (BFI), who will be hosting a total of 27 vendors of the B40, local and the migrant communities throughout the exhibition. BFI connects social enterprises together with the goal of achieving a future where every business in Malaysia would be inclusive, meaningful, and positive for society.

The RED Gallery Untold Stories by MRCS is in collaboration and support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Agoda.
